Youth Sport Award Go Camp

This five day event will offer Y9 students the chance to take part in the tasks necessary to achieve the Go level of the Youth Sport Award. Taking place at Loughborough University campus, attendees will complete tasks in four key areas to complete the award;

  • Wellbeing
  • Leadership
  • Achievement
  • Reflection

In order to meet the requirements of the award, attendees will take part in sessions to complete their physical activity minutes, obtain a recognised qualification, undertake volunteering hours and create a written piece to evidence the skills they have developed throughout the camp. Information, advice and guidance on higher education will be offered alongside the award content.

Lunch, snacks, refreshment and transport to and from participants’ schools will be provided.

Objectives:

  • Attainment of transferable skills leading to increased confidence to pursue educational ambitions.
  • Achievement of a recognised award.
  • Increased understanding and interest in Higher Education amongst participants.

Application process:

Invitations for students to book onto the event will be sent in June 2018 to schools in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Eligible students will need parental/carer permission to attend the event and we will collect consent forms with emergency contact details as part of the application process. Each student who wishes to take part in the activities will need to complete a Data Consent Form for East Midlands Widening Participation Research and Evaluation Partnership (EMWPREP). This is a monitoring database that allows the universities to report NCOP activity back to the Office for Students. Pathways will provide you with copies of this form and provide guidance if required. Further information about EMWPREP can be found here.

After that session, I am thinking about University. I wasn’t before. I’m more confident now.
