What are the Year 10 Pathways’ Workshop Packs?

Pathways have developed a range of fully resourced workshop packages for students to explore their further and higher education opportunities. All DIY delivery packs come with activity sheets, a lesson plan, and a PowerPoint. We recommend these workshops for ages 14 – 15, but a number of these activities are applicable to a wide range of young people. These workshops can be delivered in a number of ways. See the options under ‘location’ on the right-hand side of this page.

How will they meet Gatsby Benchmarks?

Using our Pathways’ workshop packs in line with the accompanying lesson plans will help fulfil certain Gatsby Benchmarks. See below for which Gatsby Benchmarks are achieved in particular workshops.

The Pathways’ Workshop Packs:

1. University Placement Opportunity Research:

• This workshop gives students an insight into what university placements are like from the perspective of a university student. Students will gain an understanding of the benefits of these placements and the opportunities that come with them.
• Gatsby Benchmarks: 7
• Workshop Length: 20 minutes

2. Studying Abroad Exploration and Design:

• This workshop gives students the opportunity to read about studying abroad from the perspective of university students. Students will learn about the different locations university students have been to and the benefits of choosing to study abroad as part of a university course. Students will also get the opportunity to design an exciting study abroad advertisement!
• Gatsby Benchmarks: 7
• Workshop Length: 45 – 50 minutes

3. Student Accommodation VR Exploration and Design:

• This workshop includes an introductory match-up activity to exploring university accommodation and gives students the opportunity to virtually explore and compare the different types of accommodation offered at universities. Students can use a VR headset here!
• This also includes the opportunity for students to design their own university room and consider what their future university self might look like!
• Gatsby Benchmarks: 7
• Workshop Length: 50 – 60 minutes
