Pathways X Sport Leaders

Pathways are working in collaboration with the Sport Leaders to bring Year 12 students a Sports Camp to further develop their transferable skills and explore their Higher Education options.

When: Week Commencing 19th July – 30th July (inclusive) 

Monday 19th July 2021 – 09:00 till 15:00 

Wednesday 21st July 2021 – 09:00 till 15:00 

Friday 23rd July 2021 – 09:00 till 15:00 

Monday 26th July 2021 – 09:00 till 15:00 

Wednesday 28th July 2021 – 09:00 till 15:00 

Friday 30th July 2021 – 09:00 till 15:00 

Where: De Montfort University

Who: Year 12 

Students will get the opportunity to achieve a Level 2 Qualification in Community Sport Leadership but also have the chance to network with University Students over the course of the two-week programme. Students will focus on developing key skills throughout the programme by completing six challenges: 

1) Valuing Learning Challenge – Engaging with learning and your community  

2) Skills for Progression Challenge – The personal skills you need to progress  

3) Believe in Yourself Challenge – Building confidence to succeed  

4) Safety First Challenge – Leading activities safely  

5) Adapting Activities Challenge – Developing activities for a changing environment  

6) Virtual Leading Challenge – Using technology for leading activities 

They will complete tasks focused on developing specific skills and participate in a multiple Sport and classrooms sessions the course of 2 weeks to discuss the importance of the challenges and partake in planning and delivering a Sports activity with Sport Leaders. 

 An online forum will be created where students will be able to find out more about sport opportunities at Higher Education (University) level. This programme is designed to provide participants with transferable skills and experiences they may have missed out on gaining this academic year, as well as providing them with innovative insights into Sports in further and higher education. 

It is mandatory for students to attend all sessions to achieve the Level 2 Qualification in Community Sport Leadership.
